YOUTH WRESTLING (6 to 12 years old)

YOUTH WRESTLING

at WRIGHT FIGHT CONCEPTS

The American Classic in Youth Combat Sports!

Taught by Coach Ken Hyman who brings decades of youth coaching experience to the program, each class will introduce children from 6 to 12 years old to the sport of Wrestling.  And for those with a previous scholastic Wrestling background, it presents a great opportunity to further refine those skills with practice alongside other children of similar experience.  And as Wrestling at its core is one of the oldest martial arts on the planet, with some of the most reliable methods for closing distance and executing takedowns, its a fantastic addition to round out our other Youth programs for the true mixed martial arts experience.

Our Youth Wrestlers can be seen at local tournaments for Northern Burlington Wrestling.

Meet Coach Ken Hyman

Our head Wrestling coach began his wrestling journey at the age of 12. The second he stepped on the mat he was hooked.  It was not long before he realized how much he truly enjoyed anything dealing with the mat. Freestyle, Scholastic wrestling, submission fighting, grappling, jiu-jitsu and boxing; he trained in all of them.  He also competed for a short time as an adult.

He began coaching when he was a senior in high school. After high school, he was invited to coach for an elementary program and assisted with the middle school as well. Shortly thereafter he began coaching for Monroe Twp. for 4 years and then as the Assistant Head Coach for the Trenton Rec program for 5 years. He was also part of a program called "Beat the Streets" for a year and then began coaching for Northern Burlington Youth Wrestling which he did for 4 years as well.

Coach Ken's own words: "My goal here is to help train these students to be the best mixed martial artists they can be and have fun.  I cannot thank Wright Fight Concepts enough for not only offering me the opportunity to continue my training in a vast variety of programs but for also accepting me into the DOJO as part of the family and I could not be more thankful."  And we are lucky indeed to have such a talented and driven wrestling coach and student as well.
