Joseph (Sensei Joe) came to martial arts training at a later age than most students, but nurtured an interest in Asian fighting arts and philosophy even in his childhood.  Having read and researched martial arts for many years in preparation of choosing a discipline, Joseph had the good fortune of meeting Sensei Damien Wright during his studies at Brookdale Community College.

After overhearing a conversation on martial arts, into which he “rudely” inserted himself, Joseph began training under Sensei Damien in his side yard (becoming thereby, unofficially, Sensei Damien's very first student), learning a mixture of Wing Chun Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido during rigorous informal training sessions.  In 2000, Joseph began training with Sensei at Woodbridge Judokai in traditional Japanese Jujitsu, (achieving the rank of blue belt), and Judo, (achieving the rank of green belt), under the supervision and training of several highly experienced teachers.

Thereafter, in 2004, Joseph moved to North Brunswick where he continued his training in Japanese Jujitsu, and added training in Kempo Karate at Kaizen Dojo in North Brunswick, NJ, achieving another blue belt in that traditional art.  He also taught youth classes at this dojo, learning much about structuring martial arts training for children.

Joseph has a bachelor-of-arts degree in English and Literature from Rutgers University, and is pursuing a degree in secondary education for high school English.  He taught 8th and 9th grade English for one year at a private school, and tutored students of all ages in basic mathematics, language arts, and SAT Prep for several years, professionally.

Joseph is a huge believer in both the practical and philosophical benefits of martial arts.  He enjoys seeing the martial training of the dojo improve the entire life experience of his students and fellows.  Joseph continues his training under both Damien Wright Kyoshi and Wayne Ford Soke with the intent of growing as a martial artist, warrior, teacher, and human being.  Sensei Joe earned his Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 2012 in the art of Nagasu Ryu Jujitsu.  In addition to this, he is also training in Wing Chun Kung Fu and Krav Maga as a supplement to his training.

DANIEL STINSON, SENSEI

Transitional Youth Jujitsu (Lead Instructor)

Sensei Daniel has been a diligent and dedicated student of Sensei Damien since 2010.  Deceptively quick and agile, and extremely knowledgeable, Daniel has become a fixture at the dojo, helping many students achieve excellence.
In addition to his Japanese Jujitsu training, Sensei Daniel also regularly trains in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (both at the dojo and accompanying Sensei Damien to attend classes at Garden State BJJ), Jeet Kune Do/FMA, Boxing, and Japanese Swordsmanship.
At Daniel's request, Sensei Damien initiated the Transitional Youth Jujitsu program.  With an increasing amount of students aging up and growing to a point where extra attention was required to facilitate their further training and eventual transition into the Adults and Teen class,  Sensei Damien and Sensei Daniel saw the need to implement this program and it has done very well since, with several of its students already having made the transition successfully to the Adult/Teen class.
Daniel's passion for Jujitsu, Japanese Swordsmanship, and Mixed Martial Arts is only matched by his compassion and dedication to those who share the mat with him.
Daniel earned his Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) in Nagasu Ryu Jujitsu on March 25th, 2017.
It is of note that Sensei Daniel is both the first "pure" Nagasu Ryu black belt under Sensei Damien Wright (being introduced by Sensei Damien to the martial arts with no prior experience and having since received under him consistent training and advancement) and the first Nagasu Ryu Jujitsu shodan promotion awarded after the passing of Wayne "Papasan" Ford, Soke in the presence of his successor Grandmaster Michael G. Burrowes.

Jennifer (Sensei Jenny) trained for 5 years in Chinese Kempo, a blended discipline incorporating traditional and modern aspects of tae kwon do, kung fu, and aikido into technique and application for street defense.

In 2004, Sensei Jennifer received her First Degree Black Belt in the Korean art of Tang Soo Do.  She continued to train and teach in this art for two years until the school she was training at closed down.

Sensei Jennifer, her teenage daughter Andrea, and her son A.J. were Sensei Damien’s first official students when he began teaching in New Egypt, enrolling with him in November of 2008.  Due to her skill and technical acumen, as well as her persistence and dedication, her first degree (shodan) black belt rank has been honored here at the dojo at the authorization of both Sensei Damien Wright and his instructor Wayne Ford Soke, though she insisted on a formal test for the official rank.  Sensei Jennifer achieved her Shodan in Nagasu Ryu Jujitsu on August 16th, 2014.

In addition to teaching, Sensei Jennifer continues her rigorous study in the core curriculum of Nagasu Ryu Jujitsu at the black belt level as well as Brazilian Jiu-jitsu through our affiliation with Coach Chris Ulbricht, Muay Thai under Coach Jeff Cressman, and Escrima and Jeet Kune Do under instructor T.J.    Julia is truly a formitable and dedicated martial artist, a fact which is immediately evident to those she trains with.  She loves working with the children at the dojo and takes a particular joy in helping these kids take those important steps on the martial journey she has long known herself.

Nell can often be found competing in BJJ tournaments, having earned a number of gold and silver medals in local events.  In addition to this, she plans on pursuing amateur kickboxing and is gearing up for her first showing in the ring in September of 2017
Nell is also affectionately known in the adult Japanese Jutitsu class as "the Giant Slayer" due to her noted proficiency in taking down much larger opponents, and "Wolverine" by Grandmaster Michael Burrowes for her ferocity and endurance.  All who train with her and instruct her know of her heart, which surpasses many even on the professional level.
